From last week into this week, two world-renown sports persons have been beset by bad news/events.
Last week we heard about Tigers Woods' accident, just outside his Florida home.
...and yesterday we heard of the fine imposed by Grand Slam officials, on Serena Williams, for cursing a line judge who made a bad call during Williams' US Open semifinal with Kim Clijsters, back in September of this year.
[Grand Slam oversees all tennis grand slams throughout the year. These tournaments (the Australian Open, Roland Garros (the French Open), Wimbledon and the US Open) are the most prestigious in tennis].
Now the media has been trying to get the "real deal" on Tiger Woods' Thanksgiving night accident on November 28,2009.
So have the police...
But Tiger doesn't seem to be cooperating with them... or is he?
For it's reported that the police didn't collect a statement from him until eleven (11) hours after the accident...thus giving Tiger enough time to be treated at the hospital and sent home. (Outside of the public eye).
(The famous tabloid, The National Enquirer, claimed that Woods has been having an affair with New York resident, Rachel Uchitel.
Upon hearing this, his wife went into a rage, Tiger stormed out of the house and crashed into a fire hydrant and tree just outside his home in Florida).
Although the Woods camp have been insisting that Tiger's accident was minor, it seems as though his accident is anything but that...
For:
His wife claims that just after the accident occurred, she had to break the back window of his Escalade in order to get him out of the car. (God knows why and how this woman had a golf club readily available).
He will miss the Chevron World Challenge Golf Tournament (a golf tournament benefitting the Tiger Woods Foundation) due to injuries sustained in the accident.
=============
Now Tiger Woods is said to be a private person.
...any bad press, is bad for his image and hence endorsement from his sponsors. (Tiger's net worth is said to be US $1 billion).
So, no wonder he wants to keep mum about this incident. He knows very well that the minute that he makes a police report, unfortunately, the press will get hold of it and make his life a living hell.
=========
Well, apparently he did make the police report...for the police are reporting that Tiger's injuries are consistent with that of a minor car accident and inconsistent with him being beaten up.
Reuters UK claims that Tiger will be fined $164 for the accident and that there was no report of domestic abuse from either himself or his wife, Elin Nordegren.
The Florida Highway Patrol is also reporting that they will not subpoena Woods' medical report for the minor injuries he suffered.
Power 106 FM News in Jamaica reported that Tiger received a "careless driving citation" and had 4 points deducted from his driver's licence.
==========
If this accident is really a domestic abuse case (instigated by his wife), as the media is trying to make this out to be, my humble advice to Tiger is to move out of his home or ask his wife to move out.
When someone is angry with you to the point of wanting to cause you harm...the best thing to do is to move out and get a restraining order.
...Or else they'll do harmful things to you while you're both awake and asleep.
Judging from the statements coming from Tiger Woods PR people and his lawyers, it seems like they are being very careful about what gets leaked and doesn't...which is really the right thing to do.
...The press really doesn't have to know everything and protecting the image and brand of Tiger Woods is foremost.
However, if Tiger was really cheating on his wife and/or the domestic abuse was instigated by him, then GWAP Blog can't side with him at all.
Marriage is for keeps and a sacred vow between two people, God and witnesses that they'll stick together through the good and not-so-good times.
(However, I believe that not-so-good times exclude spousal abuse and consistent extra-marital affairs).
Even God gives permission for marriages to end when extra-marital affairs take place.
...I mean, what's the use in having a partner and you treat him/her like trash by having an affair, or by abusing him/her?
...Hmmmh?
