Following his world-record wins in the 2009 IAAF Berlin World Championships, Usain Bolt returned to Jamaica, to get some well-needed rest.
Today, Jamaican Prime Minister, Bruce Golding, announced in Parliament, that as a result of Usain's achievements in Berlin, he will be receiving the following honours:
-
Highway 2000, a major thoroughfare which connects Kingston with Montego Bay and Ocho Rios, will now be named, "The Usain Bolt Highway"
-
Usain will be bestowed with Jamaica's 4th highest national honour, the Commander of the Order of Jamaica, which entitles him to be called, "The Honorable Usain Bolt"
-
He will also be given the title, Ambassador at Large - with full diplomatic privileges accorded to a person with this title.
This is indeed good!
We want to congratulate Usain Bolt and wish him all the best!, as he seeks to attain legendary status in athletics!
