Please read our previous post, here, for a background to this post:
The complete body of the American Airlines plane has been removed from the crash site and is still in the hands of the USA's National Transportation Safety Board.
American Airlines (AA) has been returning carry-on bags to passengers and is in the process of returning recovered items from the belly of the plane, to passengers as well. The recovered items are being cleaned before being returned to passengers, however.
AA estimates that it will take approximately 60 days for passengers to receive all their luggage.
Should anyone need further information from AA, the number to call is: 1-800-872-2881.
Jamaica's National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) has been called in to assess damage caused to the shoreline and surrounding sea by an oil spillage from the airplane.
Lieutenant Colonel Oscar Derby, Director General of the Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority (JCAA), has reported that the final report re the plane crash will be ready in about 18 months - 2 years...the norm in the airline industry.
Right now, investigators are preparing a final draft.
In the meantime, Jamaican lawyer, Anthony Hylton, has been requesting that passengers of the crashed American Airlines flight AA331, seek legal assistance before signing any documents re compensation from AA.
...He reportedly already has ten (10) clients from the plane crash.
[I would like to thank lethaltriad for the use of his Youtube inset video of a panoramic view (at dusk) of the crashed American Airlines plane, taken on December 26,2009. The foreground shows the shoreline on which the plane landed, with the front of the aircraft, just metres from the sea].
