Please read this post, as it provides a background to the following:
Ok, so last week Friday, Tiger Woods gave his first "remarks conference", following his accident on Thanksgiving night, November 26, 2009. (The ABC video is provided above...please follow the link to watch it on YouTube).
In it he clarified that his wife did not attack him on Thanksgiving night, nor on any other night and that there is no history of domestic violence in their home...He also apologized for cheating on her.
But he went on to make some very profound statements that are important for our young readers to understand. It is also imperative that our young readers note how easy it is to make crucial mistakes, in their lives, when they neglect the values that they were brought up with...
He said:
"I stopped living by core values I'd been taught...I thought that normal
rules did not apply. I thought that I had worked hard my entire life and
I deserved to enjoy all the temptations around me...I don't get to live by different rules.
It's up to me to start making amends - by never repeating the mistakes I made...it is up to me to start living a life of integrity".
He also went on to say that:
1) His achievements on the golf course are only part of what's involved...character and decency are also important.
2) He's been in in-patient therapy, receiving guidance on the issues...he has a long way to go, but he's just taking the first steps
3) Who he's had affairs with, will remain between him and his wife, Elin Nordegren.
4) He's requesting that the press leave his wife and kids alone...he made the mistake, not them.
================
Well, there have been numerous comments on the web, re Tiger's remarks conference...
Some people (like Eric Webber from Advertising Age) thought that he didn't exploit the opportunity sufficiently, to regain his critics trust.
Well, really now!!!...what did they expect him to say?.."Sorry, I should have left Elin for you?"
What's wrong with these people??..didn't they know that he was married when they were cheating with him...and when he was buying them expensive gifts?
They accepted these "benefits"...didn't they?
Don't they realize that mistresses and lovers hardly ever become wives or husbands???...
Tiger Woods Future re His Marriage

I really think that Tiger Woods' wife may forgive him, if he continues therapy...but what if she doesn't?
Like it or not, Elin Nordegren gives Tiger Woods credibility...she and his children are proof that he's a family man.
...An image he needs to desperately hold on to, to secure sponsorships when he resumes his pro career.
The thing is that, since this lady has been woefully embarrassed, she will squeeze whatever she can out of him, monetarily.
She may just live with him for the next three (3) years until things calm down and then divorce him.
Or she may be like Hilary Clinton when the Monica Lewinsky scandal broke, re her husband (former President Bill Clinton), and stand by her man.
...Who knows?

Tiger's Future re Golf
(Flickr photo of Tiger Woods iPhone Wallpaper by Xploitme.)
Tiger Woods needs to get himself straightened out and then resume his golfing career quickly...there are a few golfers in his age bracket, who threaten his position as number 1 golfer in the world. [(E.g. Lee Westwood (aged 37, currently ranked no. 4) and Ian Poulter (aged 34, currently ranked no.5.].
He needs to again prove to the world, that he's the best!
When he starts winning again, he'll regain his sponsors...
I mean, which sponsor can resist seeing their logo plastered all over the screen (or in newspapers), when this young man keeps winning tournaments or ignore the huge brand exposure, they'll get, when all cameras from major and minor global media houses alike, are focused on him on the golf course?
...None!
No matter how quick they may have been to withdraw sponsorship when Tiger's troubles were exposed, they will resume sponsorship or be replaced by smarter sponsors who realize that partnering with Tiger Woods is a win-win situation.
Tiger's Future re His Foundation
His foundation, The Tiger Woods Foundation, will continue. His apology has gone a long way to winning back his fans, especially the younger ones.
I don't see their love for Tiger Woods dying...he has done such positive work through his foundation e.g. giving over 10 million poor kids grants and opportunities to succeed in their chosen professions, outfitting some of them with golf gear and equipment and conducting free golf clinics (schools) for them, that the good that he has done, will follow him.
Conclusion
Tiger Woods has made mistakes, he'll atone for them - in time. But Tiger has had troubles before (e.g. his father's death) and managed to rise, despite. Tiger Woods will rise again. :)
