Today is being celebrated as Labour Day in Jamaica...
- A day set aside when the nation works on Labour Day projects in their communities to improve these communities...or when some people work on household projects.
...It is as the day suggests, a day for labour.
However, with the events of the last few days, many of these activities in the Corporate Area (Kingston and St. Andrew) have been curtailed.
E.g. the Labour Day Concert has been postponed.
All CSEC, CAPE and Overseas Exams for today are still on, however:
However there is relocation of exams for schools in troubled areas:
E.g.:
1) Students from Camperdown High, Kingston Technical, St. Andrew Technical are to go to the Overseas Exam Office on Manhattan Road (off of Marescaux Road) to do their exams.
2) Students at St. Georges, Kingston College are to do their exams at Ardenne High School.
3) Students at Cumberland High School in Portmore are to do their exams elsewhere.

Presently, there are roadblocks on Red Hills Road between PriceSmart and Valentines' Drive.
There has been looting of some businesses in Dowtown Kingston.
There are reportedly gunshots being fired on Marcus Garvey Drive.
Two policeman were shot and killed in the wee hours of the morning when they tried to rescue a civilian from gunfire on Mountain View Avenue.
The Flat Bridge that was blocked earlier this morning, has been cleared by the police, but is being blocked again.
There is significant gunfire around Central Police Station.
Labour projects outside the Corporate area are still going on.
Will keep you updated.
