Reports coming out today, from the JAAAs (pronounced J3As) - the governing body for athletics in Jamaica, is that Shelly-Ann Fraser's coach, Stephen Francis - has been strongly reprimanded by them for his role played in her taking the banned substance oxycodone.
They cautioned that any repetition of this behaviour will lead to further sanctions by them.
(The JAAAs- the Jamaica Amateur Athletics Association, is the governing body for athletics on island).
Shelly-Ann Fraser was suspended from competitive athletics for six (6) months, by the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission, for taking oxycodone pain killers (prescribed for Stephen Francis), to numb a severe tooth ache before a Shanghai meet in May of this year.
Her ban officially ends in January 2011.
Stephen Francis is one of Jamaica's premier coaches and is the head coach for MVP Track Club - a premier Jamaican athletic club to which former 100m world record-holder -Asafa Powell, 100m hurdles World Champion -Brigitte Foster-Hylton and Beijing and Berlin World silver medalist in the 400m - Shericka Williams, belong.
