Usain Bolt defied his skeptics and his critics and ran 9.63 secs to win the men's 100m final (of the London 2012 Olympics) in an Olympic Record time.
Yohan Blake, his training partner, ran his personal best time of 9.75 secs (s) for silver.
The USA's Justin Gatlin, ran 9.79 s for bronze.
Unfortunately, Asafa Powell - former world record-holder, came in last, in 11.99s, due to him having to pull up at 55 meters due to a recurring groin injury.
Women's Triple Jump(Finals)
Jamaica's Kimberley Williams and Trecia Smith finished 6th and 7th respectively, with jumps of 14.48 meters and 14.35 meters, respectively, in the finals of the Women's Triple Jump.
Women's 400m(Finals)
Jamaica's Novlene Williams-Mills finished 5th in 50.11s and Rosemarie Whyte finished last in 50.79 s in the finals of the Women's 400m.
Yesterday
Shelly-Ann Fraser won Jamaica's first gold medal in the women's 100m in 10.75 s ..in doing so, she defended her 100m gold medal received in the Beijing 2008 Olympics .
The USA's Carmelita Jeter ran in 10.78s for silver.
Veronica Campbell-Brown ran in 10. 81s for bronze.
