The nurse/receptionist, Jacintha Saldanha, who was pranked by two Australian journalists, pretending to be Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles, has committed suicide.
Background
On Monday, two Australian journalists (video above), in an effort to get information re Kate Middleton's condition after her being hospitalized, decided to call the hospital where Kate Middleton, Prince William's wife, was a patient.
(Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, who had been hospitalized for three (3) nights, after having severe bouts of morning sickness associated with being pregnant, was released on Thursday.
The hospital - King Edward VII's Hospital, is renown for keeping its patients' names and information, secret).
The nurse on duty, believing these journalists to actually be Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles, divulged information re visiting hours and how Kate Middleton had passed the night.
This morning, the hospital announced that this outstanding nurse had committed suicide...and said that she will be missed.
Prince William's Tenuous Association With the Media
Since the death of his mother, Lady Diana, Princess of Wales in 1997, Prince William and the rest of the royal family have limited press access to the royal family.
Prince William and his brother, Harry, have been particularly stringent re this.
Lessons to be Learned From the Kate Middleton Prank Call
Please let this be a lesson to pranksters everywhere...your antics may be funny to you and your associates and you may gain you fame and notoriety from same, but please remember that they may mean death and dismay to others.
Surely the Australian Press, Media Associations and the workplace of these two journalists (2Day FM), must take strong action against these two journalists to demonstrate to the world, that this is not the standard of journalism that Australia encourages.
