Congratulations go out to St. Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) for winning the Ben Francis Cup for three (3) times in a row!
...Aka a 3-peat!
[The Ben Francis Cup is one of five (5) competitions in the ISSA School Boy Football Championships (at the High School level in Jamaica), each year].
At the end of regulation time, STETHS tied with Grange Hill, 2-2.
They went in overtime, but no improvement in score sent both teams into a penalty shoot-out...
...which St. Elizabeth Technical High School won, 4-2.
So, are we highlighting this win by STETHS?
Well, they went into today's final, knowing that they had to make history...being the first school in the Championship, to win three (3) Championships in a row.
When interviewed on Television Jamaica, yesterday, both the coach and the young men interviewed, showed a dogged determination to win.
But during the first half of today's final, STETS was a bit flat, and Grange Hill was up by 2-0 (two goals to nil).
The two (2) goals scored by STETHS, were scored in the second half of the match.
They held Grange Hill in a 2-2 lock until the very end...and this is what we call, "reminding yourself of your purpose, even though your start may be a bit rusty".
...and they followed through...putting into action, what they had been practicing and doing for months...being winners.
Congrats again, to STETHS, for showing that winning is truly a habit!
