Please read one of our previous posts, here, as it provides a background to the following:
June 30,2010: Day 38 of the State of Emergency for Kingston and St. Andrew and Day 8 of the State of Emergency for St. Catherine, Jamaica:
1) The Constabulary Communication Network (CCN - the PR arm of the Jamaica Constabulary Force), is reporting that over JMD $754 million has been seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act over the past three (3) years.
This amount was recovered by Customs and the following divisions of the Jamaica Constabulary Force: the Organized Crime Investigations Division (OCID), the Fraud Squad and the Transnational Crime and Narcotics Division.
2) Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Glenmuir Hinds, is reporting that the burial areas found in Tivoli and its vicinity will be treated as scenes of criminal acts as they are not official burial areas. As such, these areas will be thoroughly investigated...
3) The officer in charge of Area 5 in St. Catherine, ACP Ray Palmer, reported yesterday, that since the Limited State of Emergency in St. Catherine, numerous searches in North and South St. Catherine resulted in ammunition, five (5) motor vehicles, cash of over JMD $500,000 being seized by the police;
Persons of interest are now in custody and 52 persons have been taken in by the police.
4) The Emergency Powers Review Tribunal held its first case today. This Tribunal is set up to review the cases of those detained under the Limited State of Emergency.
5) In a Post-Cabinet Press Conference, today, Information Minister, Daryl Vaz, has said that a decision is to be made as to whether or not Rev. Al Miller, will continue as Head of the National Transformation Programme.
6) Infamous Jamaican Dancehall artist, Vybz Kartel (nee Adijah Palmer), has still not turned himself over to the police. This is after the police named him as a person of interest, yesterday. Vybz Kartel heads the list of six (6) persons who are wanted by the St. Catherine Police.
The police is encouraging these persons of interest to turn themselves in.
Vybz Kartel's lawyer, Valerie Neita-Robertson has been in talks with the police to ascertain whether or not he'll be detained.
